Most self-employed Kiwis are automatically covered by ACC CoverPlus, which pays up to 80% of your taxable income if you're injured and can’t work. But with CoverPlus Extra, you choose a fixed level of income to be covered—so you know exactly what you’ll receive if you’re off work due to injury.
Even better? Your business can keep earning during your recovery, and you’ll still receive 100% of your agreed cover (less tax), starting just one week after your injury.
BENEFITS AT A GLANCE
You choose your level of cover, between $40,000 and $120,000 per year (subject to approval).
You don’t need to prove a loss of income when you claim.
Your payout won’t be affected if your business keeps earning or you return to work part-time.
You’ll still have access to medical and rehab support through ACC.
You can lower your ACC levies by choosing a lower level of cover.
